Dave and Donna’s Digest…. June edition
Friday, June 11th, 2004 by Dave MarttunenJune 2004 update…
Each time we write you there is so much to tell you which flows out of our grateful hearts. We see God at work in us and through us in ways that humble us and at the same time lift us up. While that seems a strange paradox, we frequently read about this very experience in Paul’s letters in the New Testament and once again feel ourselves privileged to be in similar circumstance. As you have been praying along with us we want you to know about the ways we see God at work as we prepare to leave Canada.
- With our house selling while we were in Japan, we have been able to concentrate on Donna’s training, and our preparation to leave this summer.
- Donna’s medical procedure on her knee was successful and though she still has a bit of restriction she is off all medications and has full use of her knee.
- Donna completed her ICU certification (a two year process for her) with an overall A- grade.
- Our support level is now at 86% of what we need.
- Sarah and Jeff’s wedding is a week away, and all of us have a growing excitement. They are moving to Calgary in early July.
As we wrote to you last, you can probably sense our excitement and growing desire to get on with the move from Canada to South Africa. Our ongoing prayer requests are much the same as previously, but we have tweaked them as we move forward.
Pray for:
- Visas for South Africa.
- Contacts in Johannesburg as we prepare to move to that city in July.
- Ongoing connections with our FEBinternational missionaries as we coordinate membercare.
- Follow-up to our work on the Japan field.
- All the details of packing, sorting, and auctioning our household contents (since we do not plan to ship anything to South Africa apart from our clothing).
- Raising the final 14% of our support (as well as our outgoing funds) in the next month.
- Our transition away from Canada as we leave our daughters, family, friends, and what we have known as our homeland.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. –Philippians 4:6
